Well, I'm a bit slow with the blogging but thought I should still show Ashley's 13th birthday.
It's so weird to be the mom of a teenager.
Ashley's birthday is the day before Valentine's day. She spent the afternoon at her school's Valentine dance. (Don't worry, the school has strict rules, like, you can't dance with anyone. At least that's what she said) It was a fundraiser for the NJHS (she's one of the officers) so she has spent lots of time helping with the planning for it.
For those of you that read my 25 random things, you will be happy to know that I didn't freak out even once while making this cake. It even looks half-way decent & it tasted really good.

For Ashley's birthday party she had the idea to go the Humanitarian Center here in town and do some service. We made an appointment and they had the girls assemble school kits for children in underdeveloped countries with paper, scissors, erasers, pencils, etc. Instead of bringing gifts the girls brought a piece of fleece that they made blankets with to donate to a local shelter. They are standing in front of the boxes they filled with school kits. (The palate was 1/2 way full when they started & they finished it off)
That was very nice of the girls. Especially Ashley.Its was a very unselfish thing to do. Good for her. Oh wow you have a teenager !

i think that was an awesome idea Ashley had - Madison had a lot of fun - and really any dessert you bake is delish!

ReplyDeleteTo answer your question about our Seuss party. It was really very simple, cake, ice cream and a few of our favorite Seuss stories. But, the kids love it. Any reason to 'celebrate' and make an ordinary day 'special'.
