Logan's 8th birthday

(None of these catch-up posts are really in order)
Logan turned 8 this summer. He decorated his own cake with his favorite thing! I forgot to buy birthday candles so we had to make do.
We celebrated by going to see "Up" in 3-D. The movie was even better because it was free. (I found a deal on cereal a few months ago & if you bought 10 boxes you got 2 free movie passes to any movie/anytime. So we've enjoyed a few free movies this summer and we're still working on our 6 month supply of cold cereal!)

Ashley and Courtney have been looking forward to Logan's birthday for months. At our house when you are 8 you get to add washing the dinner dishes to your chores. So with Logan turning 8 Ashley and Courtney's dish nights went from 3 each a week down to 2. Woo-hoo!

Girl Trip

Ashley, Courtney & I look forward to our annual girl's overnighter in St. George. We see a play at Tuachan on Friday and shop on Saturday before driving home. We liked Annie. I was a little disappointed that the musical didn't have all the songs from the movie. We had the sound track I think when I was young and I can still remember all the lyrics much to Ashley & Courtney's annoyance.
Ashley didn't get glasses, well at least not prescription--these are a "fashion statement." The new braces however are real. :)

Tom's 40th

We celebrated Tom's 40th a little early when we were in Utah this summer.
Not only was it a big birthday, but it was also his first kegger. :)

My sister Chrystie made a pinata and the kids decorated it with taunts.

My mom made him this awesome layered chocolate cream cake. I won't post the picture of the cake I made him on his actual birthday (it looked more like a cow-pie. . . maybe by his 60th I'll get it right)

My Cub-Scout

Another reason his 8th b-day was a milestone. . . now he's a Cub Scout.
Logan is super excited about it.
Logan & his good friend Jacob turned 8 within a week of each other so this was the first pack meeting for both of them. They both earned their Bobcat and swimming belt loop.
Getting his Bobcat award:
I have a full-size scout too! :)
Tom's been serving with the YM in our ward for the past almost year now. He enjoys it and a big part of it is scouting. He went to a few weekends of training this summer. I'm not sure who likes getting scout badges & beads more--Tom or Logan? ;)

More of the 4th

I just remembered I had this collage. It has a few more pictures of the day.

Fun on the 4th!

I guess this is basically the same picture as below, just different clothes. Maybe we should come up with some creative poses for our next family snapshot. :)
We had a fun afternoon at Tom's parents house. We really look forward to all the traditions there.
We liked having my parents & Carrie, Sean, Ashlynn & Reagan staying with us for the weekend too.
After an entertaining "So You Think You Can Dance" themed opening ceremony the family olympic games began.
Here's Ashley & Courtney before their syncronized swimming routine. They did it to the Mission Impossible music.

Ready to race. . .
Matthew was pretty proud of placing in a few contests. This was the first year he really got into participating in everything. He LOVED it & has been asking often when it will be 4th of July again. This elephant prize has become his new friend.

I'll put more pictures of the 4th on facebook. It's too many steps for me to upload more than 4 pictures per post. :)

Logan's Baptism

I'm not sure where to start catching up!
Logan's baptism was our big milestone this summer.
He was baptized on the 4th of July.

It was great to have so much family at his baptism. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins. Thanks for coming and supporting Logan!
Our fam on the big day :)
