New Saturday Tradition

We decided to forgo soccer or any other fall sports this season. Last spring I got burnt out. Instead, for now, we decided to do some kind of family activity every Saturday since we won't be at the game fields.

Last week we went bowling. This week it was games at home. Everybody picked one so the line-up was:

*Dodgeball on the trampoline

*Hide and Seek (I have been missing out by not playing hide & seek for the last who-knows-how-many-years, when your heart starts beating hard & you're trying to hold still because you hear someone looking who's about to find you--that's fun stuff)

*Sleeping Spider (The spider goes to sleep and when the bugs get sneak into grabbing range, watch out, the spider might wake up!)

*Blokus (Bryn & Stephanie introduced us to this fun game of strategy.)

Any ideas for future Saturday fun?

  1. Springs Preserve is pretty cool, if you haven't been there yet. You can just check out the grounds for free or pay to get into some of the exhibits.

  2. What a fun idea! One of my kids favorite activities in the winter here is what I call and "indoor snowball fight". We wad up white [clean] pairs of socks and throw them at each other. It's a riot.

  3. We took a break from sports for a season and stayed out for a couple of years. It was hard to commit again. We would play fear factor like who can eat a worm or stay in the cold pool the longest.

  4. Those ideas sound fun, thanks! I may have to wait until Logan & Matthew are a bit older for them to appreciate eating worms though :)

  5. We're hooked on Runaway Train Dominoes. It's also know as Mexican Train Dominoes. You can play one or two rounds or keep going. You can keep a score sheet, and pick up where you've left off each time too. A good old fashioned water fight is fun too. The kids love getting mom and dad wet:)
